CLC Duchally Country Estate takes pride in using the best produce from the local area and across Scotland, but it still needs a skilled hand to bring out the very best in them. Our new Head Chef, Steven Burnett, is just the man for the job.

Steven comes to us from spending the last 9 years at Gleneagles, latterly as Sous chef in the main restaurant. Steven’s passion for cooking started when he was young and his mother worked in a small country house hotel – the chefs would allow him to help out with little jobs around the kitchen. His favourite job was using an old French butter turner that shaped the butter for service and dropped it into big pails of iced water.

The realisation that cooking was his true love struck Steven while he was studying for his degree and working part-time in a kitchen. He made the decision to take it up full-time and has not looked back.

Steven has had the opportunity to work with some fantastic chefs from all corners of the globe and has honed his skills and techniques to deliver gastronomic delights to guests at Monteaths.

During his free time, Steven likes to walk his dog in the wonderful Scottish countryside which provides inspiration for new and appetising dishes that will excite diners every time they come in to the restaurant. With locally produced fresh ingredients providing the basis for his culinary conjury, guests will soon fall under his spell. When not cooking, or thinking about what to cook, Steven likes to settle down with a good crime novel and “a drop of the Craytur”.

For a taste of traditional Highland hospitality, visit CLC Duchally Country Estate and sample one of the many whiskies in our Whisky Bar and, of course, sample some of Steven’s superb cuisine in Monteaths.
