The Famous Grouse Bids for World Record

The Perth-based Famous Grouse whisky is aiming to set a new record for creating the world’s largest bottle of whisky. A specially commissioned 200 litre glass bottle is being delivered from the Czech Republic ready for filling on August 12 otherwise known in Scotland as the “Glorious Twelfth” and the start of the grouse shooting season.

The huge bottle, a replica of The Famous Grouse Bottle, is five feet and five inches tall, weighs quarter of a tonne and will hold the equivalent of 8,000 drams of whisky. The record is currently held by Jack Daniel’s with a 184 litre bottle although purists would say that it contains bourbon and not whisky.

CLC Duchally Country Estate is conveniently located just 10 miles from the Glenturret Distillery and provides an ideal base from which to take in a tour of The Famous Grouse Experience.

CLC Duchally Country Estate’s Whisky Bar boasts some 39 different varieties of Scotch Whisky and the restaurant holds an Eat Scotland award for the excellence of its cuisine and use of fine, locally sourced produce.

Situated among some of the most spectacular and picturesque landscapes in Perthshire, CLC Duchally Country Estate’s rooms and lodges are furnished, equipped and decorated to the highest standards and offer spectacular views of the Highlands.

The Estate’s leisure centre includes a heated swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, steam-room and sauna as well as a fully-equipped and air-conditioned gym.
