CLC Duchally Country Estate welcomes little monsters staying on resort to dress up for Halloween night on October 31st and have some frightfully good fun.

The resort has a ‘treat’ in store with prizes for the best costumes, music and games, a children’s entertainer from 6pm to 8pm, and a goody bag for each child to take away!

Halloween origins in Scotland can be traced back to the Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrating the end of the harvest and the start of winter. Witches and warlocks were said to roam and one ancient custom was to leave a chair and plate of food out for invisible guests!

Customs today still include ‘dookin’ for apples and popular party games that children can enjoy. But if during your stay at the resort, you want to experience a crowd-pulling folkloric event, Edinburgh Samhuinn (Gaelic for Samhain) Fire Festival has flames, musical and street theatre performances. Go to Visit Scotland for details of more spooky events and ghastly goings on.
