A highland fling at the games

The kilts will be out in force in Blackford, Perthshire on May 26th as Scotland’s first Highland Games of the year take place.

The official opening ceremony will take place at 1pm as the games are declared open by the Blackford Gala Queen although the Highland dancers and the tug’o’war teams in the Perthshire Heavies competition will have been rocking and reeling since 11am in their competition qualifying rounds.

With a funfair for the kids, stalls, the Strathearn Pipe Band, WW2 vehicles and militaria display and a classic motorcycles exhibition there will be plenty to keep the whole family entertained.

CLC Duchally Country Estate at Auchterarder sponsors the tug’o’war event, and is just down the road from Blackford, so guests can enjoy an authentic Scottish experience.
