Glenfiddich is the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky. Its unmistakable character and rich complexity is the product of more than 120 years of skill, wisdom and experience. The distillery’s founder, William Grant, was determined to create “the best dram in the valley” and, with the help of his seven sons and two daughters, he built the Glenfiddich distillery by hand, and the first spirit flowed on Christmas Day 1887. ‘Monkey Shoulder’ refers to a temporary injury suffered by malt men when they turned the malting barley by hand in the distilleries of Scotland. While our malt men are among the few who still turn the barley manually, thankfully working conditions have improved and the injury is a thing of the past. Inspired by their craft, Monkey Shoulder is a blend of 3 of Speyside’s finest malts, made in batches of just 27 casks for a richer, smoother taste.
